The Center Director at Tierra Encantada is the cornerstone of our early childhood education center, embodying our commitment to excellence in business operations, educational quality, and customer service. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual who can inspire and lead the center team, foster a strong community, and drive the center towards achieving high enrollment and exceptional educational outcomes. The Center Director should exemplify our core values of valuing diversity, being team focused, taking ownership, and having a passion for excellence in every aspect of their role. Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Culture: Model Core Values by embracing Tierra Encantada\'s core values of diversity, teamwork, ownership, and excellence; foster a professional environment and encourage diverse perspectives. Employee Engagement: Lead, manage, and develop a collaborative team culture with recognition, feedback, and coaching to promote retention and alignment toward goals. Lead by Example: Demonstrate proactive engagement in daily operations, fostering collaboration and inspiring team members through hands-on leadership. Communication & Relationships: Maintain professional, prompt communication with families, staff, vendors, licensing authorities, and corporate partners. Professional Development: Complete at least 20 hours of professional development annually; participate in the Directors Summit and other events; pursue additional certifications and peer networking; align growth with Tierra Encantada\'s strategic goals. Hiring, Training, and Staff Management
Hiring & Onboarding: Oversee hiring plans, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, performance evaluations, and integration of new hires. Staffing & Scheduling: Manage staff schedules, time-off requests, payroll reporting, and maintain staffing levels with a candidate bench; ensure compliance with employment laws. Training & Performance Management: Conduct regular performance assessments, provide feedback, and implement development plans; ensure ongoing training and educational excellence. Child Development: Monitor student progress with teachers and inform families about development. Accreditation: Achieve and uphold local and national accreditation standards and pursue improvements in educational quality. Operational and Financial Management
Operations Ownership: Oversee day-to-day operations, comply with childcare licensing, kitchen regulations, policies, and maintain high standards. Compliance & Risk Management: Develop risk management procedures, safety drills, and security protocols. Facility & Safety Management: Maintain the center\'s space, inventory, cleanliness, and readiness of resources and equipment. Culinary Program Supervision: Oversee food program safety and dietary guidelines, meal preparation, and inventory for children. Financial Management: Develop and manage the annual budget, balance expenses with revenue goals, and supervise billing and collections with the finance team. Financial Performance Monitoring: Review financial metrics to ensure profitability and enrollment targets; adjust strategies as needed. Community Engagement and Enrollment
Local Marketing: Drive local marketing initiatives to increase visibility and attract families (open houses, events, promotions). Community Partnerships: Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and organizations to support enrollment. Customer Experience: Foster strong relationships through exceptional service and responsive feedback to support retention. Enrollment Management: Use the CRM to manage enrollment processes and achieve occupancy targets. Position Requirements
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience, ideally in an educational setting, with ability to develop and inspire teams. Bachelor\'s degree in Management, Business, Marketing, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field, or equivalent experience and education. Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong oral and written communication. Familiarity with HR, marketing, and budget management; revenue generation experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional maturity and proactive attitude. Track record of building a supportive team culture with professional development and continuous improvement. Organized, multitasking, and skilled in strategic problem-solving. Strong customer service orientation with ability to collaborate across diverse cultures and backgrounds. CPR, First Aid, and Food Protection Manager certification required (or willingness to complete within 90 days of hire). Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-Suite; ability to learn new technologies. Excellent hearing and eyesight; ability to bend, crouch, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs for child handling and safety. Compensation & Benefits
Salary range is $60,000 - $70,000, with eligibility for a performance bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental leave, 12 paid holidays, 15 days paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, discounted childcare and waitlist priority, and company-paid professional development.
