Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager . The ideal candidate will have technical, managerial, and market access responsibilities to lead project execution and assist in business strategy to develop new client work, while helping maintain existing client relationships. The candidate will strategically identify opportunities and plan/implement prepositioning activities to position Dewberry favorably for selection, develop and leverage relationships to perform water/wastewater projects across the northeast, and manage a range of civil engineering wastewater, stormwater, potable water and resilience projects for municipal and some private clients. The candidate will support and/or supervise department project management, engineering and technical staff operations and work with Dewberry leadership across the Water Service Line to advance our water/wastewater/stormwater/resilience practices across targeted geographies. The successful candidate will be an engineer with a diverse background and experience in developing and executing water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, storage, and pumping projects. Responsibilities Applies thorough knowledge and expertise of current principles and practices of engineering to resolve crucial issues and project challenges. Plans, schedules, coordinates and performs the preparation of engineering assessments, preliminary designs, and design documents for multiple projects. Ensures quality of own work and the work of others, while maintaining budget and schedule. Take over management of select existing projects, monitor scope, schedules and budget of projects. Plan and conduct/coordinate quality control for technical assignments. Support management of existing clients. Manage existing department staff including workload planning, skills development and professional mentoring/development. Participate in personnel decisions and manage personnel. Visit clients, job sites and consultant offices, as needed, to support project and business development goals. Develop and implement business plans to grow water, wastewater, stormwater and resilience services in the northeast. Conduct prepositioning and business development activities; identify opportunities at Federal, municipal, state, private and other entities and collaborate with the team to pursue and deliver assignments while developing long-term relationships. Drive preparation of high-quality proposals for submittal on competitive and sole-source pursuits; create scope of work, schedules and budgets for projects/proposals. Coordinate and communicate across Dewberry’s national Water Service Line; support regional/national technical and business development efforts. Develop knowledge of Dewberry offerings and support cross-selling of services to clients. Identify potential needs for new skills and/or strategic hiring where appropriate, and support recruiting efforts. Support identification and vetting of potential acquisition targets. Communicate and coordinate market development efforts and ideas. Increase Dewberry’s visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in national, state and local professional and community organizations. Support branding activities and ongoing public exposure. Be prepared to leverage existing relationships outside of Dewberry’s client portfolio to deliver growth opportunities. Required Skills & Required Experience B.S. Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, or related field. Massachusetts Professional Engineering license. 15+ years’ consulting experience, with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects. A minimum of 10 years of project and client management experience. A recognized area of technical expertise is a plus. Successful track record of building client relationships in the water and wastewater field, with a reputation for being highly responsive and delivering quality work. Proven experience with planning, design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure facilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong client management and business development skills. Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor staff.
