Senior Software Engineer (Java / AWS) – 12+ month contract (potential to hire) - Hybrid This role is hybrid 3 days per week in Santa Monica, CA
Optomi, in partnership with one of the largest entertainment companies in the world, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join their User State and Customizations team within the Services and Data Engineering organization.
The team’s mission is to build highly available, high-throughput services that power personalized experiences for millions of subscribers. You’ll play a key role in designing and scaling backend systems that support live sports, entertainment, and core streaming functionality at a global scale.
Responsibilities
Impact millions of subscribers by delivering personalized, reliable streaming experiences

Lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and shape best practices at scale
Contribute to a strong technical community through collaboration and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
BS in Computer Science or STEM subject
Expertise in Java, database scaling (MongoDB, MySQL), and stream processing
Strong understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and concurrency
Hands-on experience building RESTful services with production-grade reliability
Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Docker
Excellent communication skills, self-directed problem solver, and collaborative mindset
Environment Java, Spring Boot, Spark, MongoDB, MySQL, AWS, Jenkins, Docker, REST APIs, Scala, Python, Databricks, Git
Focus areas
Building scalable, high-performance backend services critical to high-volume streaming platforms
