We are growing and seeking a team member who will contribute to student success, retention, progression, and graduation for first‑year students and others served by the department. What You Will Do

First-Year & Transition Programs in the Office of Student Success is seeking an Assistant Director to contribute to successful retention, progression, and graduation of students, especially those in their first year. The Assistant Director will lead first‑year program staff and initiatives designed to help students successfully matriculate at Georgia State and reach retention, progression, and graduation goals. The role includes creating and implementing programs to provide academic support for undergraduate students as they transition from high school and other collegiate institutions. The Assistant Director will play a major role in implementing predictive analytics and proactive outreach to improve student outcomes. The role also serves as the university liaison to faculty and to peer offices within and outside the enrollment services suite. This position sits on the front line of the institution's commitment to helping students from all backgrounds succeed at high rates. Essential Job Functions Leads and provides strategic planning for the First-Year & Transition Programs suite of student success interventions, including Freshman Learning Communities, GSU 1010: First-Year Experience course, GSU 1050: Panther Restart, and support for online students. Collaborate with campus partners in the University Advisement Center and Colleges to create FLC/PLC models, reserve courses, and build schedules. Provide supervision and direction such as hiring, training, and evaluating professional, graduate, and undergraduate staff. Advise and lead staff on university policies, procedures, and technical systems (e.g., EAB Navigate, Banner). Evaluate and maintain student records for special populations; monitor registration, academic performance, and progress; coordinate communications to students regarding registration, programming, academic resources; monitor and track retention, progression, and graduation for assigned populations. Perform administrative duties in support of student success, including data collection, maintaining documentation, writing and formatting reports and presentations, and developing outreach materials (newsletters and social media). Serve as a liaison to campus departments and student success units to implement programmatic plans and coordinate initiatives. Coordinate communications with campus partners and faculty on academic program changes or updates. Teach GSU 1010. Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of training and related experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Master's degree and experience in creating and implementing programs for retention & progression to graduation and success for all students. Experience presenting to small and large groups; effective verbal and written communication. College/Business Unit:
