Senior Principal Semiconductor RF Test Engineer
Northrop Grumman is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Senior Principal Semiconductor RF Test Engineer for the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) located outside of Baltimore, Maryland. The ATL semiconductor foundry supports production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Silicon Germanium, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and technology development in superconducting electronics, enabling Northrop Grumman radar, avionic, and space systems. The role involves working on a variety of challenging projects in R&D, ongoing long-term programs, and programs for future military platforms. ATL handles all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.
The candidate must be a strong team participant with excellent communication skills, resourceful and multitalented. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology and microelectronic manufacturing test methodologies is essential.
Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of RF test for multiple technologies including GaN, GaAs, SiGe and SiC.
Understand test requirements, document test plans, and develop necessary software and hardware solutions.
Perform test software and hardware development, manage daily and forward-looking test scheduling, and ensure test data integrity.
Improve test equipment, software, and participate in the procurement of test equipment.
Ensure configuration control of test software and hardware, maintain test quality, and ensure test documentation quality.
Ensure calibration of test equipment and compliance with customer documents (e.g., Source Control Documents).
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8 years of related experience; Master's degree with 6 years; or PhD with 3 years
Direct semiconductor RF test engineering experience
Direct experience in leading a team of engineers
Software skills in a modern language such as C#, Python, C++ or Java
US Citizenship Required
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with wafer or die testing
Hands-on experience building/repairing/tuning RF test hardware
Experience preparing and presenting presentations to cross-functional teams
Salary range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00. This range is a general guideline and may be adjusted based on the scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Additional compensation elements may include overtime eligibility, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives where applicable.
