We are looking for a Senior level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the London or South East Teams. (London, Cambridge, Guildford, Reading, Basingstoke, Southampton). We have an exciting portfolio of projects which span sectors such as energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property and Local Government. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle. As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP handles challenging and high-profile projects, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. The Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees and manages environmental inputs to these schemes throughout their lifecycle. Our early engagement at the concept and option stages helps shape projects that reflect the challenges of sensitive environments and communities. In supporting continued design through to consent application, we work with wider environmental specialists and other skilled professionals to develop proposals that fit with and enhance the environment and communities they sit within. We aim to build wider benefits of improved habitats, cleaner air and water, lower carbon and overall environmental gain. With schemes approved and underway, we work with design and construction teams to ensure practice meets commitments. The role is ideally suited to a proactive individual looking to advance their career. As a Senior EIA Consultant within WSP’s Environmental Assessment and Management team, you will work with a range of technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to manage environmental inputs to project designs and assessments. You will be instrumental in improving the environmental performance for a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors. The role includes managing environmental elements of engineering projects from feasibility through planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance, with responsibilities for bidding, project team management, project delivery and financial management. Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues Collaborating with colleagues, diverse environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement Managing the delivery of environmental inputs into projects including EIA screening requests and scoping reports, environmental constraints studies, environmental management plans and Environmental Statements Managing projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities to support resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery Undertaking activities to secure new work, including proposals, strategic-bid preparation and business development opportunities Supporting development of innovative techniques to shape the business (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA) Inspiring and upskilling junior colleagues to support their career development Promoting an inclusive workplace and a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture Contributing to the success of the WSP business strategy with self-motivation toward relevant goals What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA or similar Progress toward Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or similar professional body Experience of EIA processes and working with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams Knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation Post-qualification experience coordinating environmental assessments on various projects Understanding of project management activities, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting and quality assurance Experience in bid preparation and work-winning activities Experience liaising with cross-discipline teams, clients, and external bodies Verbal and written communication skills including report writing with attention to detail Experience promoting a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture About us and our values
