Summary
Primary focus for this position is both rotating & fixed equipment maintenance reliability, but not exclusive of other areas. This position drives improvements in maintenance costs and equipment reliability through effective reliability engineering.
Responsibilities
Participate in morning line-up and routine scheduling meetings.
Coordinate with OMC, Planners, and Reliability Engineer to schedule maintenance work.
Ensure that machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime.
Conduct and oversee maintenance process audits as well as establish different maintenance procedures and protocols.
Conduct weekly audits of field equipment.
Modify & maintain SMPs.
Work with the Reliability Engineers in the Fixed & Rotating group to determine equipment care strategies.
Work with the Planners in order to better refine task lists within PMs.
Train staff on equipment operating and maintenance procedures.
Enforce the usage of SMPs.
Respond to equipment emergencies with technical support.
Troubleshoot & resolve issues with Westlake Maintenance representatives in a hands-on manner.
Communicate daily with the Reliability Engineer and Maintenance about equipment issues.
Create notifications of field audit findings and document failure modes (e.g., 5-Why).
Document repair events in Meridium to track failures over time.
Provide Maintenance Q/C technical support.
Update & maintain the status of equipment sent out for repairs.
Communicate equipment changes to the Reliability Engineer so equipment assignment events can be entered into Meridium.
Predict and strategize for system overhauls and upgrades, while considering maintenance budgets and expenditures.
Work with the Maintenance & Operations Superintendent to manage the maintenance budget. Set & track maintenance KPIs.
Aid in the development and improvement of preventative maintenance & predictive maintenance programs.
Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to analyze and update equipment BOMs and set up critical spare assemblies and spare parts in the warehouse.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
BS in mechanical engineering from an accredited university preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of chemical plant experience required, 8 years preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong work planning and organizational skills.
Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment The environment is usually moderate in office settings. Some work may be required in operating units which may require PPE including safety glasses and hearing protection. Travel including air or auto travel may occasionally be required.
