The Role

The Senior Software Developer designs, develops, and maintains enterprise applications supporting HRD’s personnel and payroll systems. This role leads coding, testing, and modernization efforts across Natural, Java, and SQL environments while ensuring compliance with DOI IT standards and Section 508 accessibility.

Lead full life-cycle development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, and testing.

Develop and maintain applications in Natural, SQL, Java, and JavaScript.

Support migration of legacy mainframe applications to modern web-based platforms.

Develop technical documentation, specifications, and user guides.

Conduct peer reviews and mentor junior developers.

Ensure systems meet security and accessibility standards.

Requirements

8+ years of software development experience.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal government background investigation (NACI).

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Software AG Natural/ADABAS, IBM z/OS mainframe, and Unix/Linux environments.

Knowledge of Agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with Section 508 compliance testing.

Certifications such as Oracle Java SE, AWS Developer, or Microsoft Certified Developer.
