System Administrator
Overview
Our partner, a leading financial institution, is seeking a System Administrator to join their IT Infrastructure team and contribute to the stability, security, and efficiency of their operations. This role is focused on day-to-day systems administration, ensuring that critical environments remain patched, compliant, and high-performing. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with Windows Server and VMware, proactive in identifying improvements, and capable of maintaining operational excellence across multiple systems and platforms. Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration (Windows + VMware) Experience working in regulated industries such as banking or healthcare preferred Familiarity with compliance frameworks (PCI, audits, change control) Strong background in patch management, vulnerability remediation, and backup/recovery Skills and Strengths
Windows Server Administration (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, GPOs, security permissions) VMware vSphere / ESXi PowerShell Quest KACE (patch management) Qualys, Nessus, or Rapid7 (vulnerability scanning and remediation) Veeam Backup & Replication PowerShell scripting for automation and remediation Cloud administration (GCP or Azure exposure) (nice to have) Strong understanding of security best practices and risk prioritization Primary Job Responsibilities
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including accounts, GPOs, DNS/DHCP, and permissions Oversee VMware virtualization stack and ensure stability and uptime of virtualized servers Handle patch management end-to-end, including automated deployments, troubleshooting failed patches, and manual updates when required Remediate vulnerabilities based on Qualys or similar scan reports and assist in security incident response activities Maintain and monitor backup and recovery systems using Veeam Use PowerShell for scripting, automation, and configuration management Collaborate with IT Operations, Systems Engineering, and Network teams to resolve issues and improve infrastructure performance Participate in compliance efforts including audits, change control documentation, and pen testing remediation Monitor system alerts, analyze logs, and proactively identify potential issues before they impact operations Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations in internal playbooks and knowledge bases Bring forward improvement ideas to enhance automation, monitoring, and infrastructure efficiency Seniority level
