The Java Software Engineering role will design, develop, and test Java code in a Linux, Agile, DevOps environment. You will be part of the Satellite Ground Systems Team that ensures communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities through cutting‑edge satellite systems. This is an onsite position in our State College, PA office.
What You Will Do
Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for satellite ground systems. Collaborate closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high‑performance software solutions. Design, implement, and test Java and Python based applications and software components for satellite ground systems. Work in parallel with legacy platform teams to migrate workloads onto new pipelines. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications. Work with previously written code and make modifications as necessary. Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability. Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities. Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the guidance of the immediate supervisor. Follow established software processes and procedures, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements, interfaces, and other software engineering work products. Learn the workings of satellite ground systems. Work with new tools that keep you state‑of‑the‑art. Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships). Experience in object‑oriented software design and development using Java or C++ in a Linux or UNIX environment. Experience using unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit). Experience with Python. Experience developing software in an Agile environment. Active, transferable Top Secret security clearance that can be crossed over to TS/SCI before start date. U.S. citizenship is required. Experience working in a DevOps environment using Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Jira, Git, BitBucket, and Confluence. Experience with SonarQube. Experience with SQL. Experience with Agile Development. Security+ certification. Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols. Familiarity with secure coding practices, especially in defense or aerospace settings. Salary
