Cardiac PET CT Nuclear Medicine Technologist - New Lenox - Cardiology

Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Hours: Monday-Friday; 7:00am-4:00pm

Location: New Lenox and Cedar Crossing clinic sites

Travel: Travel to other clinics as needed

Position Highlights

Responsibilities

Follow established protocols to perform exams in the department.

Perform ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and department protocols.

Provide radiologist with quality networked images.

Determine appropriateness and standard protocols, dosage and type of radionuclide necessary for completion of exam under the guidance of the Radiologist.

Properly receive, store and dispose of radioactive materials according to IEMA regulations for ionizing radiation.

Conduct patient interview, review for adequate clinical history, explain safety precautions and provide assistance during procedure.

Administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, intravenously or intradermally according to department guidelines.

Maintain technical competencies with computer applications and scanning protocols through continuing education and participation in Duly sponsored training programs.

Participate in the ACR process to ensure proper accreditation for the department.

Use Radiation Safety Procedures to maintain exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) for staff and patients.

Perform daily and weekly Quality Control checks on imaging equipment and cameras. Keep records of Quality Assurance procedures and results.

Provide appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

Knowledge of radiation safety and protection, handling of radiopharmaceuticals, performing examinations, operation of equipment, handling of medical and radioactive waste, patient safety, and applicable rules and regulations.

Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds and assist with patient maneuvering.

Proficient IV starts/injections/removal.

Education and/or Certification/Licensure

Graduate of an accredited 2 or 4 year Nuclear Medicine program

CPR certification

Active NMTCB and/or ARRT certification

Maintains a current IEMA license and complies with yearly CME regulations

Experience

2 years nuclear imaging experience preferred

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $35.25-52.90 with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
