Job Overview With over 75 years in medical device manufacturing, Flexan, an Ingersoll Rand business, has built a legacy as a trusted contract manufacturer. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to drive operational excellence. This role extends beyond day‑to‑day support, leading strategic, high‑impact initiatives. It is ideal for an engineer who thrives on change, implements automation, and delivers tangible solutions that improve the production floor.

Responsibilities

Complete projects, report status, and document lessons efficiently. Utilize project‑management tools to establish timelines, action items, and milestones.

Lead flawless launch activities and solicit active participation in feasibility meetings, FMEA, DFM, part‑print reviews, tool‑design reviews, and kaizen events with cross‑functional teams.

Provide timely support to the quoting team in determining the most efficient manufacturing methods and tool‑design concepts for competitive, prompt RFQ responses.

Interface with the sales team and customers to clearly define requirements and specifications.

Develop and implement new processes, tooling, and manufacturing concepts, working closely with vendors to meet customer expectations for cost, quality, and delivery.

Execute validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new products, equipment, tooling, and processes, and follow SOPs for re‑validation of existing systems.

Provide technical assistance and engineering support to the manufacturing floor, ensuring quality production and on‑time delivery while working with Quality Control to maintain project documentation such as work instructions, control plans, and process guides.

Lead process‑improvement and waste‑elimination efforts through Lean principles and participate in continuous‑improvement events.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in a related engineering field from a four‑year college or university.

5+ years of relevant experience in the medical‑device industry preferred.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab (or other statistical‑analysis software).

Proficiency in CAD modeling, preferably with SolidWorks or a similar system, and experience with Windows‑based applications such as Visual ERP.

Technical Design & Automation Integration: Designs and implements automated systems and tooling using advanced engineering principles and CAD modeling.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Identifies inefficiencies across operations, applies Lean methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.

Cross‑functional Collaboration & Communication: Partners with internal teams and external vendors, communicating clearly to align project goals and drive consensus.

Adaptability & Problem‑Solving in Ambiguous Environments: Thrives in dynamic, fast‑paced settings with limited procedural structure, demonstrating resilience and resourcefulness to build scalable solutions.

Travel & Work Arrangements This position is fully onsite in Salt Lake City, UT.
