As a Thermal Technical Program Manager, you will lead the management and execution of thermal cooling solutions for server and storage platform programs throughout their lifecycle. You’ll drive design and development activities from product definition and planning through production, release, and end‑of‑life.

This role involves managing and tracking thermal deliverables, coordinating with cross‑functional teams, and ensuring timely delivery of thermal solutions. You’ll lead cross‑functional meetings to resolve thermal issues, participate in weekly program core team meetings with customers, and coordinate with vendors and partners to gather technical collateral. Additionally, you’ll optimize the utilization of AMD thermal resources and facilitate thermal lab tours and demos as needed.

THE PERSON We are looking for a proactive and experienced individual with extensive knowledge of thermal chambers, thermocouples, data loggers, thermal test equipment, fans, heatsinks, thermal interface materials, and liquid cooling technologies. The ideal candidate has strong project management skills, an adaptive communication style, and the ability to resolve complex problems. You should be able to view situations objectively, frame and drive decisions, and interact effectively with external customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and track thermal deliverables from early concept through production and sustaining across a portfolio of server and storage platforms.

Ensure thermal fan speed control implementation aligns with firmware and program execution timelines.

Lead cross‑functional meetings to drive thermal issues to closure and participate in weekly program core team meetings with customers.

Coordinate meetings with vendors and partners to gather technology roadmap and technical collateral.

Support management of thermal chamber allocation by priority, customer, and program.

Work with AMD legal and third‑party labs to establish NDAs and purchase orders for third‑party testing.

Optimize utilization of AMD thermal resources.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Extensive experience and working knowledge of thermal chambers, thermocouples, data loggers, thermal test equipment, fans, heatsinks, thermal interface material, and liquid cooling technologies.

Experience in thermal design for servers and storage platforms.

Experience developing and tuning thermal fan speed control algorithms.

Experience running benchmarks like SPEC power and performance.

Hands‑on experience with thermal chambers and thermal labs.

Knowledge of thermal CFD software like FloTherm.

Strong project management skills in developing schedules and tracking milestones.

General knowledge of acoustics in relation to thermals.

Understanding of hardware and system software interactions to resolve technical issues.

Multiple years of relevant experience in thermal design for server and storage platform development.

Extensive experience as a lead.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

BS in Mechanical Engineering. Masters preferred.
