Senior Manager, Facilities – Winnie Palmer Hospital (FT/First Shift)

Senior Manager, Facilities at Winnie Palmer Hospital is responsible for the management, operations, and financial performance of Plant Operations, including maintenance and repair of facilities and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to maintain a safe working environment. This role involves creating and managing an annual facilities operating budget, including utilities forecasting. Requirements include detailed knowledge and working experience with Life Safety and Environment of Care standards as presented by The Joint Commission. The role oversees the safe operation of facilities and engineering staff, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed as specified by in-house staff or service contracts. The Senior Manager will manage multiple facilities through subordinate managers, with regular interaction with senior management on plant operations and facilities matters. The position ensures compliance with Federal and State agencies (e.g., AHCA, The Joint Commission) and other regulatory bodies, maintaining documentation and providing regular reports on Engineering department performance, including financials, regulatory compliance, utility costs, customer service, and quality. The Senior Manager participates in other projects and assignments as directed by the COO, Administrator, or Corporate Director of Engineering, and collaborates with Facilities Development on space planning and project management. First – Weekdays, 7:00 am–3:30 pm The Engineering Department provides 24/7 coverage for both Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer Hospitals. Primary maintenance and repair responsibilities include the following: Normal and emergency power distribution systems Medical gas delivery systems Medical vacuum HVAC (climate control and building management systems) Building domestic and chilled water systems Building steam system Piping systems (domestic and sanitary) Peripheral equipment and systems supporting building operation Physical building infrastructure oversight (roofs, walls, windows, and floors) Facelift and project management (painting and small build outs) Fire protection systems and immediate response to fire alarms Regulatory compliance oversight (AHCA, TJC, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other AHJs) Communicates on grounds landscaping contracts managed under Corporate Repair of movable equipment not assigned to Biomedical Services or covered under service contracts Why Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital? Responsibilities Essential Functions Responsible for all engineering and maintenance functions of a facility with >150 inpatient beds and >450,000 square feet of occupied buildings (excluding inpatient beds, >1M square feet) Direct accountability for creation and performance of an annual facilities operating budget, including utilities forecasting Possesses detailed knowledge and working experience with Life Safety and Environment of Care standards per The Joint Commission Responsible for safe operation of facilities and engineering staff Ensures maintenance and engineering tasks are conducted as specified, by in-house staff or service contracts Manages multi-facilities through subordinate managers with full supervision of costs, methods, and staffing Regular interaction with senior management or executive leadership on plant operations Ensures compliance with AHCA, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies; maintains documentation and provides regular reporting Develops policies and procedures, departmental guidelines, and ensures awareness and implementation by team members Maintains documentation and reports on Engineering department performance (financials, regulatory compliance, utility costs, customer service, quality) Participates in projects and assignments as directed by the COO, Administrator, or Corporate Director of Engineering Collaborates with Facilities Development on space planning and project management Meets regularly with leadership to discuss facility safety and operations Holds responsibility for facility safety and chairs the Site EOC Committee as a key Emergency Management stakeholder Monitors suppliers and contracted services to ensure quality and cost control Monitors monthly utility costs and collaborates with Corporate Energy and Sustainability to reduce costs Develops and maintains a comprehensive 5-year capital replacement plan; annually justifies capital requests Acts as liaison between Facility Development and administration to coordinate construction projects Manages HR functions including hiring, assignments, coaching, and performance counseling Maintains regular attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws Qualifications Education/Training Associate degree or high school diploma with 2 years of management experience (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section) Licensure/Certification Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) from the American Hospital Association or Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) from the Association for Facilities Engineering is preferred Experience Ten (10) years of facilities experience, including at least five (5) years of management in healthcare facilities; management experience should include financials, project management, staff development, and goal setting; familiarity with NFPA, TJC, CMS, AHCA compliance and other authorities having jurisdiction Seniority level Director Employment type Full-time Job function Management and Manufacturing Industries Hospitals and Health Care Note: This posting contains legitimately required descriptive content only and does not imply current job availability.
