Position System Analyst (Pi System) for Prince William Water; supporting OSIsoft PI System infrastructure and data flows using Aveva OSIsoft PI System, SEEQ, and Power BI.
Responsibilities
Support OSIsoft PI System infrastructure and data flows; provide real and near real-time reporting of time series data from SCADA systems using Power BI.
Manage data flows, create and maintain complex visualizations and reports using PI tools, and source data from SCADA systems, PLCs, and related sources.
Integrate PI System with other systems; troubleshoot data flowing from SCADA, PLCs, and interfaces/connectors.
Configure and maintain PI components (PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, PI Interfaces/Connectors); set up PI tags, points, and AF models; ensure data quality.
Develop naming conventions, hierarchies, and metadata standards; configure event frames and notifications for alarms or KPIs.
Use PI SQL Client, OLEDB/ODBC, or PI Web API for data integration; connect Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Excel, APIs, cloud data).
Provide operational support, including regular system backups, patching, disaster recovery testing, and generation of performance and health reports.
Train and support end users in PI Vision; develop runbooks, SLAs, and SOPs to support knowledge sharing and redundancy.
Lead projects: identify risks and dependencies, break down tasks, lead meetings, and adapt to changing technology landscapes; mentor and review other team members.
Work onsite 3 days per week (5 days total workweek).
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
Knowledge of Pi System infrastructure and administration, PI AF, and SCADA systems.
Three years of relevant experience.
Must possess:
Ability to install, configure, and upgrade PI System components (PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, PI Interfaces/Connectors).
Ability to create and maintain complex visualizations and reports using OSI Pi, sourcing data from the SCADA.
Ability to integrate Pi system with other systems; manage and troubleshoot data flowing from SCADA, PLCs, etc.
Experience with PI SQL Client, OLEDB, ODBC, or PI Web API for data integration.
Ability to troubleshoot data flow issues from interfaces/connectors and monitor server health, performance, and data availability.
Ability to set up and maintain PI tags, points, and AF models; validate data quality.
Ability to develop naming conventions, hierarchies, and metadata standards.
Ability to configure event frames and notifications for alarms or KPIs.
Proficiency in SQL for querying and troubleshooting data issues.
Analytical skills and the ability to think critically.
Experience supporting reporting and analytics tools that consume PI (Power BI and Seeq).
Ability to connect Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Excel, APIs, cloud data).
Ability to provide operational support and resolve incidents; regular system backups, patching, disaster recovery testing, and reporting on performance and health.
Experience training end users in PI Vision.
Experience developing runbooks, SLAs, and SOPs to support knowledge sharing and redundancy.
Experience and Skills
Experience leading projects, including identifying risks and dependencies between tasks and projects.
Ability to mentor and review the work of another team member.
