Construction (BI/PD) - Sr. Claim Representative/Consultant role at
The Hartford . The Senior Claim Representative/Claim Consultant is a claim handling role within Complex Claims Unit - Construction (BI/PD). CCU is a highly specialized claim organization. This role is responsible for the management of construction related general liability claims in ECOS involving bodily injury and property damage. Claims are often associated with complex fact patterns requiring contract analysis and coverage issues. These claims also commonly involve litigation along with higher exposures. The Claim Consultant is accountable for delivering superior customer service and successfully investigating, reserving, recommending, and implementing strategies to resolve claims consistent with corporate claim standards, policies, procedures and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. Responsibilities
Provide proactive communications to customers and business partners in the management of claims. Respond to inquiries from customers and provide superior customer service. Review and analyze complex policies and coverage parts. Write and articulate coverage positions. Conduct investigations regarding claims and/or lawsuits. Manage litigation and counsel, inclusive of litigation planning, budgeting, and implementing a liability resolution strategy. Make liability and damages assessments. Pursue coverage and liability risk transfer against other liable parties and insurance carriers. Expertly contribute to loss cost management by recognizing potential for Subrogation and Special Investigation. Attend mediations and trials, as necessary. Manage expenses, reserves and financial transactions. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred 3+ years Commercial General Liability claim handling experience Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to present in a roundtable setting with a well-reasoned and analytical evaluation Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills Strong customer service and active listening skills Strong time management and organization skills Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills Consistently utilize and maintain up to date metrics Working knowledge of MS Office especially Word and Excel Active Property & Casualty State Insurance Adjuster license, preferred Other Information
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Scottsdale, AZ; Lake Mary, FL; Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $61,600 - $126,000. The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
