Acute Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant/Clinical Nurse Specialist - Heart Transplant Program at East Jefferson General Hospital
Responsibilities
Assessment: Assesses the complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions. Uses relevant data to evaluate physiologic instability and formulate plan of care.
Clinical Interventions: Performs therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems. Analyzes indications, contradictions, risk of complications and cost-benefits of therapeutic interventions.
Plan of Care: Manages the plan of care through evaluation, modification and documentation according to the patient\'s response to therapy. Manages changes in condition with a focus on optimizing outcomes and facilitates transitions between and within health care settings.
Education: Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team. Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
Professional Development: Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Maintains required competencies, identifies learning needs and seeks appropriate educational offerings. Acts as a preceptor and mentor.
Patient Safety and Quality: Demonstrates commitment to patient safety, speaks up about safety issues, and reports errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.
Qualifications & Education
A master\'s degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies.
Active, unencumbered, unrestricted Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license or Physician Assistant license or temporary permit.
Active Drug Enforcement Administration registration and Louisiana Controlled Drug Substance license.
American Heart Association Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
