We are seeking a highly motivated and competent Senior Counsel to provide legal support for commercial and operational teams. The ideal candidate will handle high-level contract negotiations, manage legal risks, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. This role offers an opportunity to work within a highly entrepreneurial business with interaction with Executive Team and business leaders on a wide range of complex international transactions and legal matters.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Draft, review, negotiate, analyze, and advise internal clients on various agreements, including Master Service Agreements, sales contracts, supplier agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other agreements related to oilfield services. Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with global operations, particularly in bids/tenders, contract performance, liability, and compliance. Maintain contract management processes; support internal clients in adherence to policies governing contractual relationships; periodically review company policies and practices to identify improvements. Provide legal advice to internal clients in issues arising in the ordinary course of business. Stay updated on developments in relevant legislation and provide client updates and training; propose policy changes as required. Conduct legal training for internal teams on contractual obligations, compliance obligations, company policies, and legal risks. Conduct compliance investigations via the compliance incident management system (EthicsPoint) as needed. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (finance, sales, supply chain, HR) to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation. Provide specialized senior legal advice, analysis, and transactional support on contract interpretation, oil and gas disputes, and complex transactions. Manage claims and litigation with outside counsel support.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and JD or foreign equivalent. Current license to practice law in Texas or another US state and in good standing with the State Bar. At least 5 years’ experience as in-house counsel. Proven experience negotiating contracts. Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to work with little supervision while achieving goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking; able to communicate effectively with staff, management, customers, and vendors. Sound reasoning skills and ability to follow directions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, And Competencies

Proficiency in one or more foreign languages. Experience providing legal counsel to oil and gas companies. Experience with global privacy and compliance issues. Experience with labor and employment matters. Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms and leveraging technology in contract review and negotiation.
