The anticipated duration of this assignment is 3 months.
The Surgical Attendant plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient environment for patient care. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness within the operating rooms and support areas, restocking supplies and equipment, transporting patients, and assisting clinical staff with various duties to ensure high-quality surgical care. Key Responsibilities
Safely transport patients to and from the Surgery Department after verifying identification and obtaining clearance from nursing staff. Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and preparation under RN direction. Stock and restock supplies, linen, and surgical equipment as needed. Maintain availability and cleanliness of gurneys, lifters, and other surgical transport equipment. Perform pre-operative shave preparations according to physician orders and established protocols. Deliver and return blood products, X-ray films, and other supplies as directed. Maintain a clean environment in the operating rooms, hallways, lounges, and patient care areas. Clean and prepare surgical rooms between cases and conduct terminal cleaning per schedule. Ensure adequate supply of oxygen, nitrogen, and nitrous oxide tanks in operating areas. Participate in staff meetings, required training, and annual competency assessments. Respond promptly and courteously to the needs of nurses, patients, and other staff members. Adhere to hospital infection control, safety, and compliance standards. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of recent experience working in a healthcare setting. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Good physical and mental health with the ability to maintain composure under stress. Strong communication and teamwork skills with a focus on patient privacy and respect. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent experience. Three to five years of combined healthcare experience, including one to two years in a surgical or related environment. License/Certification
