Overview
Medical Laboratory Technician - Full Time Third Shift at Valley Health. This role involves performing a full range of laboratory tests and related duties in a hospital setting. Responsibilities
Perform automated and manual testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, and Serology. Proficient in phlebotomy for applicable age groups (neonatal to geriatric). Operate, maintain, and interpret instrument calibrations and quality control (QC). Interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams to provide accurate, timely results. Prioritize workflow and maintain a professional demeanor under stress. Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution. Alternative degrees in science and U.S. military laboratory training may be accepted if CLIA requirements are met; transcripts required with application. Experience: 18 months of hospital laboratory experience required, or six months of full-time equivalent General Medical Technology experience within a Valley Health facility. Certification & Licensure: MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) or state licensure required. West Virginia DHHR Clinical Laboratory Practitioner License, if applicable. Primary Source Verification is required. Knowledge and competencies: ability to provide service to patients of all ages; familiarity with DNv patient safety initiatives and application to patient care.
