Responsibilities Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and/or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals. May assist in the training and supervision of students.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology

NJ State Speech Language Pathology license or eligible

Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association or eligible

Member of ASHA

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider

Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements

Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders

Tact, initiative and judgment in the performance of duties

Physical stamina for lifting and therapeutic handling of patients

Minimum of 1 year of experience as licensed Speech Language Pathologist

Preferred

Student clinical experience in pediatrics/rehabilitation experience

Knowledge of normal development

Certifications and Licenses Required

NJ State Speech Language Pathology license or eligible

Member of ASHA

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider

Scheduling Requirements

Full-Time (40 hours/week)

12 weekend days per year

Essential Functions

Delivers effective therapeutic services that are relevant to population served and remains knowledgeable of current techniques

Communicates Speech-Language evaluations that identify strengths and needs; communicates findings verbally and in writing

Completes Basic Competencies and hospital competencies

Meets productivity demands by seeking opportunities within the department when cancellations or low census occur

Shares information regarding therapy/evaluation techniques with students, volunteers, CFYs and peers

Participates in department projects aligned with goals and missions

Communicates job-specific concerns and helps develop solutions

Provides in-service training to staff and community as requested

Completes written work in a timely manner; ensures content meets ASHA specifics

Meets minimum annual expected volumes

May provide direction to graduate students
