Milwaukee Tool continues to invest in electrical engineering resources to lead in electronic capabilities, including firmware engineering, power electronics, embedded systems, simulation, and the use of artificial intelligence. You will lead and collaborate with internal engineering teams to design, build, and demonstrate the next generation of power tool technology. You will be responsible for system architectural decisions for future platforms including hardware and firmware.

Responsibilities

Execute a lead role for the design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot of power electronics hardware and firmware for mid to high complexity projects.

Simulate, design, and validate various AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies and their controls.

Independently write test requests to the Milwaukee Test Laboratory based on established standard test procedures and prior examples.

Create design documents, schematics, layouts, bill of materials, test plans, and test reports.

Interact with suppliers to develop part/product specifications meeting performance requirements while aligning with process capabilities.

Provide clear, timely communications on progress, barriers, and escalation of risks/opportunities, guiding actions based on priorities and tradeoffs.

Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool’s culture of high performance by independently creating a Work Breakdown Structure and driving critical milestones.

Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet organizational needs.

Mentor, guide, and coach junior engineers and grow the ability to lead and manage a small team.

Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.

Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and Milwaukee process.

Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience in power electronics design or system controls implementation.

Hands-on approach with proven track record of realizing designs/concepts.

High level of knowledge of firmware architecture and codebase re-use methodology.

Familiarity with schematic capture, PCB layout software, SPICE, and knowledge of industry best practices.

Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to view issues systemically for driving design trade-off discussions.

Ability to research root cause failure analysis after all obvious ideas are exhausted.

Experience in analog circuit design and troubleshooting.

Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Preferred Tools and Experience

Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Experience utilizing model-based design tools such as Simulink and/or electronics FEA tools such as Ansys SIwave or Ansys Q3D.
