Base pay range: $1,589.90/yr - $3,432.57/yr. This position is paid based on student participation numbers and compensated by way of a seasonal stipend; prorated stipend may apply if hired after the start date. Responsibilities
Coaching the designated sport under the direction of the Head Coach. Assist with the Varsity team and coach the JV (2nd) and/or JVC (3rd) teams, providing guidance, instruction and experience to enhance students\' personal, physical and social growth and development. Assist in providing instruction and experience to support student-athletes in athletic programs. Attend Varsity contests as requested and provide support for the Head Coach in decision making and management of assigned sports events. Assist the Head Coach in management of District-owned equipment, maintenance of records, issuing athletic awards, and other functions related to the promotion and management of the designated sport program. Attend meetings and clinics as required by the Athletic Department, including League pre-season coaches meetings and annual rule clinics as they apply to the sport. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit. Essential Functions
Prepares student-athletes mentally and physically for athletic competition. Enhances student-athlete\'s personal, physical and social growth and development in a culturally diverse environment. Plans and supervises scheduled workouts and games for the assigned team. Instructs participants in the skills and techniques of the position played in the sport. Keeps current knowledge of sport knowledge and coaching techniques by attending clinics and reviewing related literature. Maintains current knowledge of WIAA and Metro rules, regulations and bylaws. Attends Varsity contests as requested and provides support for the Head Coach in decision making and management of assigned sports events. Attends meetings and clinics as required by the Athletic Department. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge Basic rules, strategies, coaching techniques and skills of the designated sport Effective behavior management techniques, team dynamics and group learning Skills Coaching and motivating athletes Effective communication, organizing activities and giving instructions Ability Relate to students, staff, administration and the public in a multi-ethnic environment Be fair and consistent when working with students Maintain accurate records and supervise fundraising activities Working Conditions
Requires stamina and endurance; physical exertion involved in demonstrating techniques; travel between sites Typical Qualifications
Education Must be a high school graduate or have completed a GED program. Years Of Experience Minimum of one year of coaching and/or participation in the designated sport; successful completion of WIAA Coaches Requirements; must be at least 19 years of age. Certificates & Licenses Valid State of Washington Driver\'s License. Preferred Valid Washington State Teacher\'s Certificate. Continuing Education/Training Valid "hands on" First Aid and CPR Certification; SPS Adult Sexual Misconduct Class. Clearances
