The ADON works under the direction of the DON to complete the listed functions. Split duties to include infection prevention. Provide personal care to residents in a manner conductive to their safety and comfort in alignment with Company Clinical Policies and Procedures and state/federal guidelines and regulations. Initiate the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the nursing staff in collaboration with appropriate services. Responsible for the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Establish and maintain job specifications and descriptions for nursing staff. Address and support cultural practices if such practices do not harm others or interfere with medical therapy. Recommend modifications to nursing staffing plans to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide optimal resident care coverage. Ensure each resident’s incident is documented and reported in accordance with policies and regulations. Represent nursing staff on committees such as Infection Prevention and Control, Pain Management, Performance Improvement, and Quality Assurance. Make rounds to all nursing units daily. Participate in performance improvement functions by collecting and verifying data as needed. Consult with other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to resident needs. Ensure licensed nurses perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments on all residents. Demonstrate knowledge of geriatric residents and evaluate licensed nurses’ abilities to assess and reassess residents. Interpret test results and take appropriate action; assess residents on admission and when conditions change, documenting appropriately. Adequately assess and reassess residents’ pain; utilize pain management techniques and educate residents and families on pain management. Promote independence for residents and contribute knowledge of residents’ conditions through documentation. Maintain a safe and clean environment; ensure equipment is clean and functional and report malfunctions. Function as a team leader and role model; abide by clinical policies for Abuse Prevention. Notify physician of changes in resident condition and follow through until action is taken. Implement plan of care for residents based on assessments and goals set by the interdisciplinary team. Attend required meetings and coordinate with Administration for budgeting, staffing, and supplies. Monitor cost controls to maximize the effectiveness of department budgets. Follow infection prevention procedures and supervise staff in infection prevention and control. React decisively in emergency situations; perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Registered Nurse (RN) or Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of Missouri in good standing Prior nursing management/leadership experience preferred Ability to work cooperatively as a team member Effective communication with residents, families, and all levels of the organization Ability to react decisively in emergencies and maintain confidentiality Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
