FECON designs, builds, tests, sells and services equipment including products such as the Bull Hog mulchers, the Stump Ex, and high-quality FTX tractors, among other attachments. Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing processes. Confers with production to evaluate and improve capabilities, scheduling, specifications and quality standards. Partners with management team to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. This role requires a strategic mindset, hands-on expertise, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in achieving business objectives.
Responsibilities
Inputs accurate data entry to ERP management system and manages data such as routings and bill of materials.
Supports the deployment of capital equipment.
Develop, document, maintain, and standardize production floor processes and procedures.
Prepare changes, additions, and modifications to the process and documentation to support production readiness.
Performs lean line design and plant layout for best manufacturing processing throughout the plant.
Utilizes lean manufacturing: flow, design, Kanban, 5S, etc. to make improvements.
Works with the customer on manufacturability improvements.
Interface with customers, peer engineers, technicians, production and support staff in executing engineering support of the organizational business needs.
Designs, implements, and validates tooling and fixturing needs.
Communicates/escalates daily information, trends and concerns.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues raised by production personnel.
Qualifications
Proficient with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Understands manufacturing processes (sheet metal, weld, machining).
Fixture design experience is required.
Knowledge of/experience with lean tools and techniques.
Ability to implement improvements.
Ability to understand assembly and part drawings (metric and standard).
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) practices.
Skilled in using MS Office.
Strong planning/organization & Time Management skills.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
A substantial portion of this position is spent on the Shop Floor. Must be able to work within the production facility being a resource for all areas.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
