TARGET ENTRY SALARY:
ENGINEER I: $85,696 - $111,405 (DOQ) ENGINEER II: $99,204 - $128,965 (DOQ) POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Under limited direction, the Professional Engineer and Senior Professional Engineer provide professional level technical and specialized engineering work for the design, construction, protection, and maintenance of City infrastructure. Current recruitment is for our Public Utilities Department. Essential Functions
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Serves as project engineer and performs project management and engineering tasks for various complex projects; performs technical civil engineering tasks in the field and office, reviews reports and construction plans for compliance with City codes and proper engineering design standards. Checks, evaluates, and reviews plans, specifications and reports submitted by private engineering consultants for compatibility with other infrastructure projects and conformity to the City’s goals and standards. Provides engineering advice regarding proposals, specifications, and standards, assessing the soundness of design, theory, and construction practices. Performs inspections in the field, observes operations, and assesses quality and compliance with City standards. Conducts and participates in public informational meetings for proposed projects; engages with citizens to resolve issues and facilitate public improvements. Assists in formulating engineering standards, conducts studies, and makes recommendations. Identifies needed improvements and suggests policy and procedural changes to enhance efficiency. Manages engineering consultant contracts, monitors project progress, and conducts meetings during project execution. Consults with internal divisions, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders on project-related matters. Serves as Engineer of Record for minor in-house projects. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; maintains positive working relationships and handles public relations tactfully. Assists the public with engineering-related inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned. Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment
A valid State driver’s license is required. Current State of Florida Professional Engineer License or transferable license from another State within six months of hire is required. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. ENGINEER II:
