QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor degree in Weld Engineering, a similar technical discipline or equivalent experience Experience: At least three (3) years in weld engineering in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment; automotive OEM or Tier I/II supplier experience preferred Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of welding processes and procedures; experience with weld tool design and equipment buy-off/commissioning Ability to travel to plant locations and vendor locations as needed KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain familiarity with current and future products and processes; investigate and apply welding technologies to evaluate, improve, and implement welding processes for cost reduction and quality improvement Specify, source, and implement welding process equipment; develop preventive maintenance programs; establish data for proper process parameters; manage spare parts requirements Develop and maintain a Plant Welding Standards Manual covering guidelines, process parameters, theory, PM, quality control, troubleshooting, materials limitations Remain current with new welding technologies and incorporate improvements into welding processes Develop and maintain inventories of plant welding equipment; identify areas for process improvement Collaborate with product design to ensure manufacturability of designs Justify and purchase new production equipment to meet budgetary requirements and maintain competitive position Apply technical knowledge to recommend processes and equipment for metal manufacturing needs Utilize cutting and etching equipment to optimize welding process parameters Update welding equipment specifications Develop and conduct in-house welding training programs Lead root cause analysis for test failures; coordinate with management for resolution, including safety concerns Evaluate reports and results; recommend continuous improvement approaches Prepare cost estimates and plan engineering changes; prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision Identify and record problems related to product, process, and quality systems; propose and verify solutions Document problem solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5Y, Fishbone) as needed Qualifications (cont.)
