Overview
Inpatient Coding Auditor role at BayCare Health System. Location: Fully Remote (must reside in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina). Status: Full Time (non-exempt). Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday. The Inpatient Coding Auditor is a full-time remote position.

The Inpatient Coding Auditor performs inpatient encounter audits and evaluates compliance-related activities and services provided by the BayCare Health System HIM Coding Department. Interacts directly with coders, clinical personnel including Clinical Documentation Specialists, and/or physicians. Audits include documentation and accurate and complete coding of diagnoses, present on admission (POA), procedures/surgeries, and discharge disposition while utilizing ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines and other official coding references to ensure accurate coding including CMS, Federal Register, Official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, etc. Performs special audits for specific issues within facility inpatient claims. Acts as the liaison for coding issues with the BayCare Compliance Department while maintaining a database of all audits performed, action taken, outcome and resolution. Provides feedback when coding changes are received and serves as a resource for leadership within the facility HIM Coding departments. Serves as a resource to the coding department for special projects. Additional required skills include: in-depth knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology related to auditing; MS Access, MS Word, and MS Excel; Knowledge of regulatory standards and official guidelines appropriate to the position; and meeting facilitation skills. Qualifications
Required: RHIA/RHIT in conjunction with CCS Preferred: RN, CDIP, CCDS, or clinical degree Education
Required: associate’s degree Preferred: bachelor’s degree Experience
Required: minimum 10 years of inpatient coding experience within a large multi-facility inpatient setting and minimum 10 years of inpatient auditing experience within a large multi-facility inpatient setting Preferred: 3 years of experience with 3M 360 Benefits and Employment Details
