Maricopa County is seeking a dedicated Emergency Preparedness Planner who is enthusiastic about a professional and thorough response to public health emergencies. As an Emergency Preparedness Planner, you will develop and implement emergency plans, procedures, programs, and projects to respond to, mitigate, and recover from public health emergencies. These efforts include ongoing emergency response, distribution of medical countermeasures, continuity of operations, medical surge, logistics, and other associated processes. You may lead workgroups for planning, ongoing capabilities and response assessments, and updating of existing plans, strategies, and training programs. Responsibilities

Develop, implement, update, and maintain Maricopa County Department of Public Health plans, including Department Operations Center, Medical Countermeasure (MCM) Mass Prophylaxis, Healthcare Community, Fatality Management, Resource Management, Medical and Non-Medical Intervention, and Volunteer Management programs Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response plans and develop and implement strategies to improve plans and identify hazard vulnerabilities and gaps in existing capacities and capabilities Establish working relationships with partners and community stakeholders to collaborate on strategic planning initiatives Coordinate the implementation of Mutual Aide agreements or other contractual agreements and incorporate them into response plans, field operating guides, or standard operating procedures Lead, plan, train, and participate in emergency response utilizing the principles of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Incident Command System (ICS) Develop and maintain inventory databases for emergency response supplies and equipment for asset issuance, transportation, delivery, and return Maintain situational awareness and coordinate or implement planning, operations, logistics, resources, and strategies of the Department Operations Center Develop, document, and provide training on pandemic and disaster-related topics, including equipment operation to teams, regions, state and local authorities, partners, and stakeholders Perform as Planning, Operations, or Logistics Section Chief, or other roles as assigned during activation of the Department Operations Center Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health, emergency management, public administration, business, or a related field Two years of experience writing emergency operations/response plans and coordinating or participating in emergency response operations in a collaborative team environment Other Requirements

Must have completed or be able to complete within six (6) months of hire, the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System Courses IS-100.b, IS-200.b, IS-700.a, and IS-800.b Valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire Within one month of hire, provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses; required immunizations include MMR, Tdap, Varicella, and annual Influenza (some positions require Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test) Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Master's degree in public health, emergency management, public administration, business, or a related field Completion of FEMA’s Professional Development and Advanced Professional Series curriculums One year of experience in program and project management/leadership Job Type and Compensation

Contractor with Benefits Hiring Pay Range: $66,000 - $79,750 annually Full Pay Range: $66,000 - $93,500 annually Salary offers are based on the candidate’s equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
