Everett Ship Repair is the Pacific Northwest’s premier ship repair facility. Founded in 2019, ESR offers ship repair capabilities from its facility in Everett, Washington, for commercial vessels with a focus on workboats and passenger vessels. ESR has built a reputation for high quality ship repair and conversion services, and now seeks a Welding Supervisor to oversee a team of skilled journeymen and apprentices in structural welding for repair and service of marine vessels and related facility projects.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision to assigned employees, assign tasks, ensure timely completion, resolve conflicts, and motivate performance.

Lead and communicate company safety culture and policies; conduct toolbox talks and promote safe work practices.

Collaborate with project managers or ship superintendents on staffing, scheduling, tools, materials, equipment, and subcontracts within the supervisor’s craft area.

Plan manpower requirements to support production and project management activities.

Coordinate regulatory compliance for the assigned craft; ensure work adheres to proper practices and specifications.

Oversee daily work assignments and expectations for production workforce; ensure tooling, drawings, and procedures are available.

Ensure timely and accurate submission of work hours; review timecards and coding.

Model leadership behavior, provide constructive feedback, and share knowledge with apprentices and team members.

Assist estimating department as needed for bidding work and attend daily production meetings.

Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with crew members and supervision; foster knowledge transfer to junior staff.

Supervisory duties include: communicating goals, providing direction, developing employees, and ensuring QA alignment with regulatory requirements.

Oversee operation of welding equipment and processes (arc, sub-arc, MIG, air arc) on steel and aluminum projects, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications.

Qualifications

5-10 years of experience in Marine Construction Supervision and journeyman level trades experience in a Marine Construction field.

Previous journey-level experience as a Welder or in metal fabrication and welding.

BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience.

2-G, 3-G, 4-G ABS Steel required; Aluminum a plus; Coast Guard certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge of shipyard safety practices and vessel terminology.

Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and Project; strong computer skills.

Demonstrated learning orientation and ongoing personal competency growth.

Knowledge of modern ship repair and service, including project strategies, master schedules, work breakdown structures, MRP, and scheduling.

Ability to direct and coordinate the work of others; leadership presence and conflict resolution skills.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.
