This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.
Position Description
We are seeking a Stress Engineer Lead to bring their expertise and leadership to our team. This position is critical for ensuring the successful completion of assigned projects and requires a strong passion for leadership and mentorship. As a Lead Engineer, you will assume significant responsibility within the team, serving as a technical expert and the primary point of contact for resolving customer concerns. You will proactively address challenges at every project stage, implement risk mitigation strategies, and support the growth and development of less experienced engineers.
In this role, you will collaborate directly with customers to negotiate work package alignment, define roles, responsibilities, and authority, and demonstrate both competence and credibility in the agreed-upon work. Responsibilities include leading in-house aerospace structures design, managing customer BTP MRB repair and disposition tasks, and performing stress and fatigue analysis of primary and secondary airframe structures using methods ranging from hand calculations to advanced FEM/FEA tools.
The following essential job functions are performed as a Stress Engineer Lead in a fast-paced team environment:
Manage a team of stress engineers to execute project scope
Perform Stress analysis to determine the strength, life, and safety margins using first order methods and advanced analytical methods and tools
Manage engineering projects to produce technical deliverables with aggressive cost and schedule constraints
Monitors and reports project performance
Communicate directly with customers to establish detailed requirements and deliverables, provide project status, and discuss risks and opportunities
Direct and participate in engineering activities, including design, engineering reviews
Resolve schedule and technical setbacks by developing and implementing practically driven recovery plans with engineering and program staff
Identify process improvement areas
Ensures the integrity of the teams’ engineering through informed, data-driven decisions
Assure all team members have a complete understanding of all quality requirements for projects
Manage project scope and is responsible for the execution of the team’s work
Perform risk assessments, frequently encourages less experienced engineers to identify improvement areas
Shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Due to ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or have Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
Education/Experience
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science or a related technical field is required.
10+ years of stress engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Commercial/military aerospace experience is preferred.
Must have demonstrated customer engagement and leadership experience.
An understanding of material properties and testing.
Experience with research, data analysis, and problem solving.
Must have a strong working technical knowledge of composite materials.
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Additional Information
Salary range for this role is between $120,000 - $180,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
