Medical Only Workers' Compensation Adjuster [C] role at Argo Group. Join to apply for the Medical Only Workers' Compensation Adjuster [C] role at Argo Group. This is a temporary estimated three-month assignment and work from anywhere in the United States. If the role is filled so the individual can work five days a week in one of the following offices, we can consider this a temp-to-hire assignment: Albany, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), San Antonio, or Springfield (MO). Role responsibilities include determining whether coverage exists in our system for the insured, denying claims ineligible for benefits, and thoroughly investigating the claim by interviewing the injured worker, employer, and medical provider. As this is a temporary assignment, only government mandated benefits will be provided. Responsibilities
Under close supervision and guidance, works within narrowly defined limits with an impact on departmental results—calling claimants, insured employers, healthcare providers, and witnesses to determine compensability issues and subrogation potential. Resolving issues that are generalized and typically not immediately evident, but typically not complex and within immediate job area. Denying any claims that are not covered or do not meet compensability criteria and defending that decision if challenged. Actively manage medical only claims to ensure medical bills appropriate to the claim are paid on a timely basis. Managing a diary and completing tasks to ensure cases are resolved timely and at the right financial outcome. Setting claim reserves appropriately and coordinating expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Preparing reports for file documentation and processing mail while prioritizing workload. Handling telephone calls from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Maintaining a strong focus on claim management and customer service. What We Need
Six years’ experience adjudicating medical only claims or related billing, customer service, or general insurance/medical experience. At least one year of experience in the insurance or healthcare industry (preferably in a commercial claim department) is required, with familiarity with medical terminology. High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or industry designations are preferred but not required. Good business acumen and understanding of how an insurance company works and how this role impacts profitability for Argo Group and customers. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. Natural curiosity and the ability to explore options and think beyond conventional approaches. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong evaluation and strategic skills. Strong claim negotiation skills and a customer-focused mindset. Effective time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. Tenacity in investigating claims by interviewing injured workers, employers, witnesses, and healthcare providers; researching coverage issues and subrogation opportunities. Ability to read, speak, and write English fluently; professional telephone communication skills. Spanish fluency is preferred but not required. Sound judgment under moderate supervision. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other business-related software; polished written and verbal communication skills. Desire for continued professional development through continuing education and self-development opportunities. Licensed Claims Examiner (based on state) or ability to obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first-party claims within 120 days. Compensation
The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
