The Audit Manager plays a critical leadership role in managing multiple audits and assurance engagements from planning through completion. This position involves supervising engagement teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with professional standards, firm policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical excellence, strong project management skills, and a passion for mentoring staff and developing client relationships. Key Responsibilities
Engagement Management
Lead and manage financial statement audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through completion. Develop detailed engagement plans, assess risk areas, and design audit strategies responsive to client needs and industry risks. Review and approve audit documentation, financial statements, and related deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance. Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and deadlines to ensure timely and profitable project delivery. Resolve complex accounting and auditing issues by applying authoritative guidance (GAAP, GAAS, and other applicable standards). Leadership and Staff Development
Supervise, train, and mentor audit staff and seniors, providing feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations. Foster a team culture that values learning, collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. Lead technical training sessions and contribute to firm-wide quality initiatives. Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and developing new team members. Client Relations and Business Development
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring open communication and responsive service. Develop and maintain strong client relationships built on trust, expertise, and consistent quality. Identify opportunities for cross-selling firm services and contribute to proposals and business development efforts. Participate in networking events, professional associations, and community engagement activities. Quality, Compliance, and Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to the firm’s System of Quality Management (SOQM) and AICPA professional standards. Collaborate with partners and quality management leaders to evaluate and improve audit methodologies and internal processes. Maintain awareness of current technical, regulatory, and industry developments affecting assurance engagements. Contribute to the firm’s continuous improvement efforts, including audit technology, workflow optimization, and documentation standards. Qualifications
Active
CPA license
and
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
(Master’s preferred) Minimum of
5–7 years of recent public accounting experience , with increasing responsibility in audit and assurance Demonstrated success managing multiple engagements and leading teams Strong working knowledge of
GAAP, GAAS, and AICPA professional standards Proficiency in audit software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, CCH Axcess, Caseware, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and client service excellence Benefits and Growth Opportunities
