Universal Banker – Cedar Valley Market

Overview The Universal Banker is responsible for providing an exceptional in-branch customer service experience by handling teller transactions to sales and service. This role refers clients to other lines of business to meet all client banking and financial needs, and serves as the primary contact for opening consumer and commercial deposit accounts. The Universal Banker also supports consumer banking lenders in expediting loan processing and account documentation, aligning client service operations with overall bank goals and BEST practices. This position may support fellow employees to contribute to the bank’s success.

Responsibilities

Client Service Duties: possess effective sales skills; proactively engage clients and networks to support organizational goals.

Provide top quality service in a professional, efficient, and friendly manner to all branch visitors.

Communicate with clients and colleagues to identify needs and refer clients to the appropriate departments.

Maintain thorough knowledge of all bank products and services offered.

Provide timely input on new products and services benefiting clients and the bank’s growth and profitability.

Complete duties as outlined on teller training checklists and respond to customer fraud issues following card procedures and ID Theft procedures.

Resolve customer complaints with appropriate resolutions and maintain confidentiality of client and bank information.

Complete client care duties including fraud processing, wires, and online banking assistance.

May be scheduled at another branch within the market as staffing needs warrant; cover for other consumer banking roles as needed.

Serve as a teller as needed.

Operations: Produce account documents that are accurate and compliant with bank and governmental regulations; enter and maintain account and client information accurately.

Provide processing assistance for Consumer Bankers and produce documentation to facilitate meetings with loan clients.

Open and service commercial and personal accounts (including IRA and HSA deposit accounts) in compliance with product-specific rules.

Process client transaction requests in accordance with Best Practices.

Compliance: Follow bank policies and procedures for compliance; complete applicable annual compliance training as required by laws and bank policy.

Understand and comply with Bank Secrecy Act/OFAC/CIP policies and procedures; complete annual training; identify new clients and establish patterns through customer profiles; communicate unusual activity to the BSA Officer.

Complete BVS assignments.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain the professional appearance of bank premises and work areas; perform miscellaneous duties as requested; participate in client functions and community service events as a bank representative.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

High School Diploma with banking experience and/or prior customer service/relationship development experience.

Must be bondable; knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.

Knowledge of FIS Horizon and other software for client and account management.

Completion of BVS New Account Curriculum, Internal BankIowa New Account Training, IRA/HSA Curriculum, and BVS Bank Sales Culture Curriculum.

Proven record of quality referrals.
