Overview

Database Administrator role at Sourceability. Remote work option. Sourceability is a global digital distributor of electronic components transforming how modern businesses bring products to market. We are looking for a dynamic Database Administrator to join our IT team and own the reliability, performance, security, and lifecycle of on‑premises Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms. The role includes engineering high availability and disaster recovery, tuning mission‑critical workloads, automating routine tasks, and partnering with development and analytics teams. Our goal is to build a sophisticated team with expert technical skills and strong business acumen. Sourceability is committed to a culture that attracts the best talent in the industry. Responsibilities

Administer SQL Server (installation, upgrades, service packs/cumulative updates) and harden instances; perform routine maintenance (index rebuild/reorg, statistics updates, DBCC CHECKDB, and other consistency checks). Monitor SQL Server error logs and Windows Event Logs; triage and remediate issues; manage security (logins/users, roles & permissions, authentication methods, and auditing). Implement encryption for data at rest, in transit, and in backups (e.g., TDE/Always Encrypted, TLS). Plan capacity and storage; manage disk/volume layout; optimize database objects and filegroups (TempDB, log, data); utilize SQL Server tooling (Extended Events, Query Store, and when appropriate, SQL Profiler and Database Engine Tuning Advisor). PostgreSQL administration (on‑prem): install, configure, upgrade, harden; own autovacuum/VACUUM/ANALYZE strategy; manage statistics, partitioning, and routine maintenance; performance analysis using pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN/ANALYZE; index and query tuning; security and encryption. Backups, recovery, and disaster recovery: establish standards and schedules; develop, document, and test recovery procedures; create and test DR plans with runbooks. High availability and resilience: implement SQL Server HA options (Always On, WSFC, Log Shipping, Mirroring where applicable); implement PostgreSQL HA (streaming/logical replication, Patroni/Pacemaker, PgBouncer/pgpool); maintain Windows Failover Clusters and validate failover paths. Performance engineering: end‑to‑end tuning (indexing, statistics, parameter sniffing, execution plans, TempDB/log optimization, memory/I/O contention); partner with developers to optimize schema, queries, and ORM usage; promote SQL best practices. Automation, monitoring, and operations: automate admin tasks (PowerShell, T‑SQL, PL/pgSQL, Bash/Python); version changes with Git/CI; implement monitoring/alerting (SQL Sentry/Redgate, Azure Data Studio extensions, pgBadger/pgwatch2, Prometheus/Grafana); build and maintain Windows Servers and endpoint protection. Collaboration and process: review DB changes, contribute to architecture reviews, maintain documentation, participate in on‑call rotation; work with Security/Compliance to support audits (e.g., ISO 27001) with policies and evidence. Qualifications

5+ years as a DBA (or 3+ years for mid‑level with strong performance/HA). Deep expertise with on‑prem SQL Server and solid production PostgreSQL experience. Strong T‑SQL and PL/pgSQL; PowerShell for admin and cluster tasks; familiarity with WSFC. Proven HA/DR design and execution meeting stated RPO/RTO; practical security hardening, encryption, auditing, and patch management. Solid OS/virtualization foundations (Windows/Linux; VMware vSphere/vSAN preferred). Work Conditions

On‑prem maintenance windows and participation in an on‑call rotation; occasional off‑hours work. Equal Opportunity
