NPG of Yuma-El Centro in Yuma, Arizona has an immediate opening for a full-time Anchor. We’re looking for an intelligent and articulate anchor that stands out on camera. You must be willing to multitask, as you will be producing several newscasts daily. Strong producing and writing skills are a must. Responsibilities
Present the news on assigned broadcasts, live shots and stand-ups in a professional and comfortable manner, meeting established standards for on-air appearance. Produce the newscasts and assigned broadcasts, live shots and stand-ups. Conduct live interviews with guests and experts. Write scripts and prepare for on-air segments. Stay up-to-date with current events and news trends. Uphold journalism ethics and standards in all reporting. Represent the station at community events and appearances in a professional manner. Puts together assigned “feature” segments that may highlight community members or topics like health and fitness or newsmaker interviews. Effectively communicate with producers, technical directors, fellow anchors and other staff to develop story ideas and set the tone and direction for shows. Participate in team meetings and show reviews. May serve as a reporter, developing stories for all platforms. Possesses strong camera, video editing skills, writing and communication skills. Develops and pitches story ideas for both day-turn and longer-term enterprise and sweeps reporting. Able to work under pressure and deliver stories on deadline. Able to respond quickly and effectively to breaking news situations, keeping other team members informed about the situation as it develops. Possesses knowledge of newsroom systems including the Adobe suite (Premiere and Photoshop in particular), WordPress, Inception, Newsflow and common social media platforms. Sets positive, productive tone – minimizes distractions and works productively. Create and contribute towards a newsroom leadership role as experience grows. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications or a related field is preferred. Proven experience as a news anchor or reporter in a multimedia news environment is a plus. Acceptable level of computer experience. Exceptional on-air presence and communication skills. Strong news writing and storytelling abilities. In-depth knowledge of current events, politics, and local issues. Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Knowledge of broadcast equipment and teleprompter operation. Comfortable with social media and digital content production. Commitment to journalistic ethics and integrity. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Other Requirements
Willingness and ability to work on-site. Punctual and reliable attendance. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed. Willingness and ability to travel as needed. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Ability to pass drug and background screenings. Note:
