Summary

We are a small, client-focused CPA firm seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with strong QuickBooks proficiency and payroll processing experience. The ideal candidate will manage bookkeeping, payroll, and assist in tax preparation for a variety of small business and individual clients. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to grow your accounting skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform full-charge bookkeeping for multiple clients using QuickBooks Desktop and Online Prepare and process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for clients; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Prepare and file payroll tax returns (941, 940, state withholding, and unemployment) Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly Record journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closings Assist in preparing individual and business tax returns under supervision Communicate with clients regarding accounting and payroll questions, deadlines, and deliverables Maintain organized and accurate client files and documentation Support CPAs with financial reports and ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred 2+ years of experience in public accounting or bookkeeping Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) Hands-on experience with payroll processing and payroll tax filings Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills Experience with Lacerte, Drake, or other tax software a plus
