Inspector

SA Recycling . The Inspector is responsible for observing and monitoring the delivery of material to verify conformance to quality and quantity specifications, while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. This role is outdoors and involves inspecting and documenting customer loads and directing traffic to the appropriate collection sites within the yard.
Responsibilities
Inspect incoming customer loads for acceptable and non-acceptable materials.
Maintain knowledge of different types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Identify and grade inbound scrap and reject unacceptable items.
Direct customer traffic to the appropriate collection sites.
Identify non-conforming items, communicate with customers, and deduct weight as needed.
Communicate clearly and professionally, including in stressful situations.
Ensure customers follow proper procedures for selling recyclable materials.
Assist with guiding semi-trucks in and out of the yard and maintain efficient traffic patterns.
Coordinate with the weighmaster and machine operator for each load.
Sort materials for processing and move items to designated storage areas daily.
Assist with unloading materials for customers one at a time.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Comply with all applicable safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
1 year of general labor experience in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred.
Ability to use a computer tablet.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
Willingness to learn new tasks as assigned.
Must pass a background check and pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Physical Requirements
Stand and walk frequently on uneven ground in an outdoor yard environment.
Lift and carry objects; perform repetitive motion and physical labor.
Push and pull occasionally when moving materials.
crouch, bend, stoop, reach, twist, and climb as needed to access materials and equipment.
Maintain clear communication by speech and hearing.
Manual dexterity to handle, grasp, and manipulate materials.
Visual acuity for close detail work and documentation; ability to work independently with attention to detail and environmental awareness.
