Oversee and manage monthly closing activities to ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports. Handle financial accounting and reporting: oversee monthly closing activities and ensure timely preparation of financial reports. Review journal batches and prepare correcting entries as needed. Review recorded revenue, ensuring revenues are consistently recorded in accordance with current revenue recognition rules. Review reconciliation of real and selected nominal accounts, directing follow-up as necessary. Ensure compliance with lease reporting requirements per the FASB. Support the Accounting Director in reviewing reconciliation between job cost ledger and general ledger and direct corrections as necessary. Collaborate on contract billings, ensuring revenues are recorded in accordance with current revenue recognition rules. Assist CFO with documenting agency risk assessment in collaboration with the Accounting Director. Design and maintain a monitoring process for project status at a macro level in collaboration with the Accounting Director. Meet with operations staff regarding project status and recommend corrective actions as needed. Communicate with project managers on project status in conjunction with the Accounting Director and the Contract Billings/Management team. Monitor daily cash transactions and balances to ensure alignment with accounting records and sufficient funds for payroll and vendors. Ensure contract billings are submitted regularly and timely; review contract billings/management for compliance with terms and conditions. Maintain audit readiness and assist with audit-related tasks, including reviewing SEFA and audit schedules, and preparation of 990 and related information returns. Engage in ad hoc analyses as needed. What You’ll Bring To The Table

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college/university (minimum). Advanced knowledge of U.S. accounting principles (GAAP) and extensive understanding of cost accounting principles. 10+ years of relevant accounting experience (preferably nonprofit organizations), with government contracts/grants accounting and compliance. 5+ years of supervisory experience. Experience or working knowledge of auditing processes. Proficiency in ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and FAR. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain financial terms in simple language. Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Flexible work style and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Self-starter with ownership, accountability, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. Excellent management and supervisory skills; strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree or CPA (or CPA candidate) is desirable but not required. CPA firm experience is a plus. Hands-on auditing experience and familiarity with auditing standards. Experience with Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) enabling the use of third-party applications (e.g., Crystal Reports). Compensation

$140,000 - $177,960 a year. CALSTART provides compensation transparency; pay is determined based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
