Senior Accountant for the Colorado Region II is responsible for leading accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for operations within Colorado. This role ensures accurate, timely financial closeouts, supports audits and regulatory filings, oversees tax reporting, and provides accounting support for acquisitions, lender reporting, and government programs. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in training staff accountants, maintaining financial accuracy, and partnering with leadership, legal, and operations to meet organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Regional Accounting & Reporting Lead and manage the monthly financial close for the Colorado region, including a hard close by the 15th of each month. Prepare and review financial statements. Perform bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and monthly financial reviews to ensure accuracy. Maintain and update fixed asset (FF&E) lists and oversee capital improvement accounting. Oversee property taxes, personal property taxes, and appeals as needed. Regulatory & Audit Support Manage Colorado Medicaid and Medicare Cost Reports. Prepare and support UPL program reporting. Assist with WCF Audit, BVH Audit, and other lender/regulatory audits. Coordinate FRV reports and BBC monthly submissions. Handle IRS notices, 1099 submissions, and other required tax filings. Lender & Legal Support Prepare due diligence lists for lenders and legal teams. Submit annual tax reports and lender-required financial documents. Support refinancing, renewals, and compliance with loan covenants. Assist legal with regional items and provide financial data for contracts, acquisitions, or appeals. Systems & Process Management Provide functional support and troubleshooting for NetSuite, Bill.com, and DIVVY systems. Manage DIVVY audits, expense splits, and credit card user maintenance. Oversee Positive Pay setup with banks, transitioning ownership to AP once implemented. Support process improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase efficiency. State Programs & Grants Administer and report on Quality Incentive Program. Oversee participation and compliance with grants and government programs. Insurance & Compliance Add vehicle drivers to insurance policies as needed. Collect and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for vendors and contractors. Leadership & Development Train, mentor, and oversee staff accountant(s) assigned to the Colorado region. Foster cross-functional collaboration between accounting, operations, and leadership teams. Ensure staff follow proper procedures and meet deadlines with accuracy and consistency. Other Duties as Assigned Perform additional projects and unplanned tasks as assigned directly by company ownership or your direct supervisor. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, healthcare or hospital experience a plus. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost reporting, and healthcare-specific accounting practices. Experience with NetSuite, Bill.com, DIVVY, and similar accounting/ERP systems. Proven track record of managing audits, tax filings, and lender reporting. Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong leadership skills with experience training or supervising staff. High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and professional judgment. Seniority level
