Overview

A Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Hematopoietic Biology and Malignancy, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, United States. This position reports to Dr. Pavan Bachireddy in the Department of Hematopoietic Biology & Malignancy. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow interested in understanding the evolutionary dynamics of measurable residual disease (MRD) progression within the bone marrow microenvironment. Our lab uses unbiased, high-throughput technologies to decode the rules of interaction among diverse cell types in the tumor milieu that determine patient outcomes to cancer immunotherapy, primarily in hematologic malignancies. We are especially interested in Fellows with molecular biology expertise to interrogate subclonal evolution, using integrative analyses of jointly measured transcriptomic, proteomic and epigenomic measurements at single cell resolution. In vitro genome-editing and in vivo experiments will be critical approaches to validate and extend our findings. Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experiments, perform data analysis and prepare manuscripts in addition to attending lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars. The primary research focus is on hematologic malignancies that determine patient outcomes to cancer immunotherapy. The fellow will train, learn and study design, data analysis and manuscript writing as well as learn to give articulate oral presentations in preparation for career progression. The fellow will lead work focused on: 1) interrogation of factors defining MRD; 2) evolutionary modeling of cancer-immune interactions over time; 3) identification of programs driving MRD progression across myeloid malignancies, using multiple cutting-edge technologies as well as standard cell culture and immunologic approaches. Because Dr. Bachireddy is also the Scientific Director of the ECLIPSE platform, the fellow will have significant interaction and access to the vast immunogenomic and computational resources of the ECLIPSE platform. The position will require great planning and organizational skills, the ability to work well with others as part of a cohesive team, take initiative, and creatively problem solve. Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements Individuals with a PhD degree in immunology, molecular biology, genomics, genetics, or related fields. Desirable (but not required) experiences include: immunology (e.g. T cell assays), CRISPR, and/or next-gen sequencing (bulk or single cell genomics) within myeloid malignancies. Candidates should have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. A proven track record of publications and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
