Position: Assistant Women's Beach Volleyball Coach
Position Summary The Assistant Women's Beach Volleyball Coach will assist with all aspects of the Women's Beach Volleyball program. This position reports to the Head Women's Beach Volleyball Coach.
Essential Functions
In partnership with the Head Coach, develops a strong team culture to reflect Vanguard's mission and values while demonstrating action toward meeting student development goals, Athletic Department objectives and team success.
Use sport-specific knowledge, training technique and team-building leadership skills to implement a competitively excellent team.
In partnership with the Head Coach, develops a leadership focus consistent with the university mission that promotes individual student-athletes\' spiritual growth, team involvement in service, worship, and involvement in any Athletic Department activities that support overall spiritual growth.
Assists in monitoring academic progress and builds a program that results in high retention and graduation rates by tracking classes, grades, class attendance and academic progress of athletes.
Recruiting: work closely with Admissions on the recruitment of all prospective student-athletes; adhere to all university, conference and national association recruiting policies and procedures; pursue recruiting efforts to sign student-athletes who are compatible with the university’s standards and graduation goals; facilitate the provision of information necessary to determine prospective student-athlete eligibility; ensure all recruiting activities are entered in Teamworks; build and foster positive relationships with high school, junior college, and club coaches.
Build a collegial environment in decision-making and administrative effectiveness throughout the University campus and within the Athletic Department staff.
In partnership with the Head Coach, build and maintain the program budget under the guidance of the Athletic Department Administration.
Engage in opportunities to enhance the team and department through the Vanguard University Invest in Gold program, with annual targets for supplemental funds and building relationships with community, alumni and potential donors.
Lead and conduct team activities, practices, and meets if the Head Coach is not present.
Adhere to all rules and regulations of the Department, the University, the Pacific West Conference and the NCAA.
Attend and participate in department meetings.
Provide complete and accurate expense reports and reconcile P-card expenses within the required timeline.
Understand NCAA DII and Pacific West Conference rules and promote a compliant atmosphere within the athletic department; assist staff and student-athletes to prevent violations.
Pass NCAA Learning Modules to be on the coaching staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director, including but not limited to program reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred two years' experience in athletics department environment or the equivalent.
CPR and First Aid Certification.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Ability to work independently and prioritize diverse and specialized tasks.
Ability to handle complaints and assist in conflict management.
Absolute preservation of confidential records and information.
Flexible to changing conditions, needs, and job responsibilities.
Strong interest in seeing intercollegiate athletes succeed.
Understanding and sensitivity to FERPA laws as it pertains to student-athletes.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules, bylaws and philosophies.
Knowledge and acceptance of Vanguard University's principles and philosophies.
Excellent customer service; team-oriented with strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work with multiple audiences.
Motivated, organized, multitasked, and goal-oriented.
Salary Part-time, temporary position, 18 hours per week, $17-$18 per hour, 10.5 months.
