Hampton Behavioral Health Center . This is a full-time position for a Release of Information Clerk. The hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. In this position you will establish an office environment that provides prompt, courteous service to consumers, families and agencies. You will also be responsible for the following: Responsibilities
Responds to requests for patient information and release of patient information Processes all requests for release of patient information in accordance with all federal and state laws Safeguard and protect the patient’s privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to patient information and that all release of information is in compliance with the request, authorization, facility policy and HIPAA regulations Process requests for medical records in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations Review requests to verify authorization and ensure that all necessary documentation is complete Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to retrieve and manage patient information accurately Maintain confidentiality of patient records while providing necessary information to authorized personnel Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and other stakeholders regarding record requests and policies Assist in the development and implementation of policies related to the release of information Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations pertaining to medical records management Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center and offers the most advanced behavioral health, diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs. High school graduate or GED certified with courses that include business English and medical terminology; or completion of an approved medical secretarial training program Understanding of release of information, HIPAA, privacy and confidentiality laws Experience in a health care setting with knowledge of release of information requirements Associates Degree as a Medical Secretary preferred Employment details
