Overview
SMX is seeking a Junior Data Scientist who will support the analysis, management, and reporting of metrics concerning Naval aviation critical parts in the Joint Deficiency Reporting System – Critical Item Management (JDRS-CIM) database. NAVAIR’s Critical Item Management (CIM) identifies and manages parts critical to aviation safety, ensures only approved parts are used, and prevents their failure or misuse to avoid catastrophic events, injuries, or fatalities. The CIM process follows DoD and Navy regulations and uses a life-cycle approach that includes establishing item criticality, approving sources of supply and repair, and tracking critical items throughout their use in Navy and Marine Corps aviation systems. A Critical Safety Item (CSI) is defined by its potential to cause a catastrophic or critical failure resulting in loss or serious damage to an aircraft or weapons systems, an unacceptable risk of personal injury or loss of life, or an uncommanded engine shutdown. The CIM Team manages Critical Safety Item data in the Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS)-CIM information system used by NAVAIR, NAVSUP, DLA, DCMA, and other services to identify naval aviation CSIs, approved manufacturers, and critical characteristics. Responsibilities
Collects, cleans, and transforms large data sets from various sources to ensure data accuracy and integrity of the information in JDRS-CIM. Performs data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and correlations to develop reports and visual dashboards of findings. Monitors and evaluates data quality to identify gaps or inconsistencies, taking necessary steps for data refinement. Provides end-user support to resolve problems related to the use of JDRS-CIM. Performs standard and specialized queries, develops and provides reports with analysis and recommendations, develops metrics, and proposes Software Change Requests (SCRs). Collaborates with the software development company to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software-related problems. Supports the implementation of software changes and performs User Acceptance Testing. Documents and tracks support requests, ensuring accurate and detailed records of issues and resolutions. Creates and maintains technical documentation, including user manuals, troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and video training. Develops training materials and trains users in the software, interfacing with other automated information systems managed by various DoD organizations. Researches information systems such as PDREP, ASSIST Quick Search, WebFLIS, and AvPLM to obtain needed data. Qualifications

Secret Must have a Technical or Scientific AS or AA degree from an accredited college or university Minimum years of experience: 0-3 years minimum recent and relevant experience required A strong background in Excel and
SQL
