Overview
Merchandising Assistant Store Manager in Training (MASM-IT) will gain hands-on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Specialty Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. The MASM-IT will undergo a comprehensive training program that includes hands-on experience, mentorship, and leadership development. Throughout their training, MASMs in Training will become familiar with Manager on Duty duties and will learn to oversee the various Merchandising departments (Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, and Electrical) to ensure the successful execution of key programs that enhance customer service, product availability, and store presentation. The MASM-IT training period will be up to 6 weeks, during which you will learn to execute MASM key responsibilities. MASMs in Training will collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), and Merchandising field teams and learn to develop and implement strategies that boost sales and profitability, creating actionable game plans for departmental success, and ensuring smooth department operations. MASM-ITs are expected to lead by example and uphold, maintain, and support all lawful company policies and positions. Key Responsibilities
15% - Customer Experience: Supervising Associates in the selling effort and leading GET culture. Drive customer service and associate engagement through the store; ensure customer concerns are resolved promptly and actions are taken to address situations. 10% - Operations Management: Perform Opening, Closing MOD and other whole-store focus responsibilities. Adhere to all Company policies and procedures; hold associates accountable for following them. Command of store standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially safety compliance, and learn tactics to maintain process accuracy and mitigate shrink. 10% - Safety: Ensure self and associates follow all safety and hazmat procedures and Safety Matters guidelines at all times. 15% - Sales and Productivity: Plan merchandise placement, signing, and support stock integrity through inventory management. Learn how to maintain and operate all store equipment and systems, and manage daily financial operations. 50% - Training and Preparing for Assistant Manager Position: Participate in a structured training program covering all aspects of retail store management, including operations, customer service, sales & profitability, and company policies and procedures. Learn and demonstrate strategies to support staffing and scheduling, identify and resolve stock deficiencies, supervise selling behaviors, resolve customer issues, and support service needs for installed sales and special orders. Learn and demonstrate the performance management process, including review of performance and execution of disciplinary actions. Complete all assigned training modules and assessments. Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time. Physical Requirements
Must continuously stand or walk; regularly required to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds). Working Conditions
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older Must be legally permitted to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications
