Health Outreach Worker - Tuberculosis (TB)
The Health Outreach Aide plays a key role in supporting tuberculosis (TB) treatment in the community. This position helps ensure individuals with TB receive the support needed to complete treatment successfully. The role includes daily fieldwork, frequent patient contact, and close coordination with the TB care team to promote treatment adherence and prevent the spread of TB.
Temporary opportunity.
Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions are at-will positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is anticipated to last up to
five (5) months , though the end date may be adjusted based on funding decisions at federal and local levels. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.
This vacancy can also be filled as a Special Duty opportunity. For Special Duty Assignment, you must be a Career Service, Career Service Exempt or other regular employee in King County with supervisor approval and completed initial probation.
Job Duties
Driving a county car to deliver medications
Provide Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and VDOT
Collect specimens and X-rays
Report concerns or side effects, collect specimens, and maintain accurate electronic health records
Communicate regularly with nurse case managers and participate in daily huddles to share updates on patient progress and field activities
Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Knowledge of communicable diseases and prevention
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage time and plan daily travel efficiently
Experience working with diverse communities and commitment to equity; basic computer skills
Washington State Driver’s License or ability to provide transportation to locations with limited or no public transportation services
Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire (CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement)
Desired Qualifications
Experience with medical records documentation
General knowledge of Microsoft Teams
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Work Schedule This position is Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
Work Location This position is in-person and located at Harborview Medical Center, 325 9th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104. A majority of this position requires driving a county vehicle to different locations in King County. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
