Overview
The Oca\u2019\u00bas Lab within the Genes & Human Disease Research Program is hiring a Research Technician to contribute to projects focused on brain aging and neurodegeneration using molecular, cellular, and computational approaches in mouse models. Responsibilities
Animal colony management: breeding, genotyping, and maintaining accurate records. Molecular and cellular biology: DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, Western blotting, and preparation of sequencing libraries. Bioinformatics support: basic data organization and analysis of molecular datasets (training provided as needed). Laboratory operations: maintaining supplies, equipment, and overall lab organization. Minimum Requirements
BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, chemistry, or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience. Must be detail-oriented and work independently as well as a team player. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Proficient in computing basic mathematical operations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion. Strong organizational skills with ability to perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with any of the following is also preferred, but not required: mouse handling, genotyping, next-generation sequencing, qPCR, and/or data analyses. Work Hours
Typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. OMRF Overview
