Overview
Malcolm X College is currently seeking a Full-Time Faculty member to teach Nursing - OBGYN. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. The mission of Malcolm X College is to provide accessible liberal arts and health-focused education that fosters personal and professional achievement, guided by core values: accountability, community, diversity, empowerment, learning, and respect. City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) , the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 65,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. Responsibilities
Prepares syllabi that include student learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Teaches on-campus classes in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of the college. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process. Demonstrates the ability to engage, inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed. Develops reciprocity and cooperation among students. Encourages active learning. Employs a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, projects, and field trips in efforts to meet students’ varying learning needs, abilities, and interests and to optimize student outcomes. Works individually with students who may need specific assistance in reaching their academic, personal and career goals. Models respect for all students and conveys confidence in every student’s ability to learn. Provides regular and useful feedback to students in an objective, consistent, and timely manner; evaluates and documents student performance using established methods and criteria and records course grades promptly. Develops and designs an assessment program that ensures students’ application and use of concepts, techniques, and innovations learned both in the classroom and through external course work. Stays abreast of innovations and current trends in one’s specific academic discipline as they pertain to pedagogy and technology. Participates in professional development activities aimed at enhancing the talents of teaching. Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings and contributes to campus and District committees. Adheres to CCC’s student-centered philosophy. Fosters student involvement and commitment. Demonstrates the ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Qualifications
Doctorate in nursing preferred (DNP or PhD) Two years of experience in clinical nursing Minimum of one year of college-level teaching experience preferred in the field of nursing and one year of recent clinical nursing practice Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy. Blackboard learning management system preferred. Salary Range
- $82,000 - $85,000 Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education. Benefits
