Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading the enhancement of the College of Public Health (COPH) research capacity and reach by working with investigators to raise the quality and quantity of submitted and successful funding grant applications to various funding agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, RWJF, CDC). The role involves establishing strong collaborations with college faculty, understanding their research strengths, and leveraging those strengths to help build diverse research proposals. Through facilitation and delivery of tailored training in grantsmanship and outreach, research communication—such as producing comprehensive grant application checklists, providing expert support in grant writing and editing, promoting successfully funded projects, and conducting the full range of pre-award activities required to prepare and manage funding proposals to government agencies, foundations, and corporations. The position will oversee direct reports and provide strategic resources to COPH faculty and researchers to increase overall research productivity. It will support the Associate Dean of Research in building the COPH research enterprise through outreach, communication, and planned growth based on standardized measures of success. Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business or related field. 4 years increasingly responsible administrative support and some experience with research grants administration. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint Will consider additional post-high school education in lieu of required experience. Ability to work independently. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal, organizing, and collaboration skills. Proficiency in use of computers, including MS Office applications and databases. Ability to meet deadlines. Relevant work experience in university research or research administration will also be valuable, as well as awareness of federal compliance regulations and guidelines for grants and contracts, proficiency in technical writing, editing, and proofreading Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration Experience in higher education research or at a sponsoring agency. Significant knowledge of higher education and major research universities. SAS, SPSS Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and key administrators. Must keep current on all technology used in writing and university business, including all Microsoft Office products.
