Classification Title:
Human Resources Generalist I / II
Responsibilities
Human Resources Generalist I provides professional support to SWFREC staff and faculty; partners with UF faculty, staff, and administrators; maintain confidentiality; excellent customer service; maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
HR Processing: serve as liaison between SWFREC and IFAS HR; guide policies and procedures; implement policies; ensure compliance; train administrative staff; ensure timely ePAFs; manage files and processing documents; handle Hires, Additional Pays, Job Edits, position updates, terminations, and leave ePAFs; process leave cash outs; maintain electronic and physical files; use OnBase for document management.
Payroll and Timekeeping: monitor and assist with payroll; review time and labor records; ensure compliance; troubleshoot errors; ensure timely approvals; liaison with UF Tax and Payroll Services; monitor time reporting per DOL and state law.
Project Support and Supply Coordination: support special projects, data entry, and document preparation; accurate data entry and regulatory compliance.
Human Resources Generalist II: serve as HR Liaison; manage recruitment and staffing; onboarding/offboarding; maintain confidentiality; administer pre-employment health assessments; monitor visas; coordinate faculty appointments; prepare for annual reviews and PIPs; support faculty with Tenure and Promotion processes; monitor time-entry and approvals; maintain payroll distributions; ensure policy consistency with university regulations.
Develop center-specific policies; provide interpretation of University policies; stay current with labor laws; advise on time reporting; provide training on HR software (Peoplesoft or equivalent); back-up for Department Security Administrator; assist with trainings and notifications.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Human Resources Generalist I
– Working knowledge of PeopleSoft; PC software for payroll/distributions/employee hire systems; ability to work independently; knowledge of payroll procedures and record-keeping; strong communication and customer service; ability to maintain effective working relationships.
Human Resources Generalist II
– Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience (or equivalent); knowledge of office procedures; data analysis for administrative decisions; strong verbal and written communication; MS Office skills; ability to organize files and take dictation.
Salary & Benefits
HR Generalist I: $25-$27 per hour; Non-Exempt; commensurate with education and experience.
HR Generalist II: $55,000-$60,000; Exempt; commensurate with education and experience.
